The role involves pulling meds, labeling, scanning, and assisting with final preparation, while supporting routine duties and compliance with HIPAA and departmental policies. Prior pharmacy experience is preferred, and state licensure is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations.
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred (one or more years of long‑term care experience preferred).

Responsibilities

• Pull medications from shelving and storage areas.
• Verify accuracy of final preparation before pharmacist verification.
• Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently under supervision.
• Process returned drugs and recycle/dispose per procedure.
• Pre-pack frequently ordered meds; label and stock as needed.
• Package materials and products manually.
• Follow HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
• Keep workspaces clean and stocked; alert pharmacist to scan issues.
• Adhere to safety, attendance, and dress code policies.
• Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Fill Technician accurately prepares prescriptions, including the careful picking, labeling, scanning, and final preparation of prescriptions for the pharmacist's verification. Additionally, they assist in maintaining a well-organized workspace and ensure compliance with regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Pull/pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas (pre-pack racks)
• Accuracy check of final preparation before presenting to the pharmacist
• Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently and in a timely and prioritized manner, under the supervision of a pharmacist
• Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle/dispose per procedure
• Assist in pre-packing frequently ordered medications; label and stock as needed during low-volume times
• Package materials and products manually
• Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA
• Maintain clean/organized workstation areas and replenish all stock supplies needed each shift
• Alert the pharmacist on duty of any medication/product that is not scanning properly
• Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code
• Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required and/or expected
• Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs

Education & Experience

Physical Demands

• May sit or stand seven to ten hours per day
• The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, walk
• May be necessary to work extended hours as needed
• May lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
