Job Summary :

This pharmacy cashier position supports Hamilton Health Center’s Pharmacy, serving as the primary contact for greeting customers and assisting with inquiries on products, prices, and prescriptions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process transactions accurately, handling cash, credit cards, and insurance verifications.
  • Input and verify prescription details, notifying pharmacists of any discrepancies.
  • Manage cash, provide change, and ensure a balanced cash register at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily transactions and follow cash-handling procedures.
  • Stay informed about pharmacy products, including generic and brand-name medications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized cashier area, including organizing the will-call section.
  • Adhere to pharmacy and healthcare regulations, including privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists, technicians, and other staff members.
  • Report customer concerns or issues to the appropriate personnel.

Minimum Education/Certifications: High school diploma is necessary or an equivalent required.

Minimum Work Experience: One year of working experience in a pharmacy setting, prior cashiering or customer service experience and knowledge of The Joint Commission regulations preferred. Bi-lingual in Spanish, Nepali or French preferred.
