The Clinical Excellence Quality (CEQ) Pharmacy Operations team supports Optum's Care Delivery Organizations by delivering patient-centered, clinically collaborative medication consultations to help people live healthier lives. Our team focuses on the design, execution, and delivery of telephonic and digital engagement strategies designed to close Medicare star measure gaps in care. Our interdisciplinary service delivery team is comprised of Pharmacists, Registered Nurses (RNs), Pharmacy Technicians, and Care Coordinators.

The Pharmacy Care Coordinator will provide dedicated support to the Optum Care Quality Team. This position will be responsible for administrative support of members facing clinical outreach. This FTE will complete ~600 admin tasks/month. This position will provide support to the pharmacy staff (both clinical and non-clinical) to ensure applicable program processes and operational responsibilities are met. This position will also provide support in troubleshooting any member issues identified by the pharmacy staff during outreach calls.

You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm CST

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides clerical and/or administrative support to clinical staff and managers for clinical programs
  • Adheres to an assigned schedule and quality metrics
  • Participate in and contribute to staff meetings and other staff development opportunities and interdepartmental work groups
  • Identify areas of improvement where systems modifications could result in operational advancements and efficiencies
  • Identifies problems and develops solutions to non-standard requests and problems
  • Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks
  • Provides explanations and information to others on difficult issues
  • May serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for other Pharmacy Care Coordinators on the Clinical Pharmacy Team
  • Acts as a resource for others with less experience
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of experience in administrative support
  • 1+ years of experience in a customer service setting
  • 6+ months of experience in a medical setting
  • 6+ months of experience in medical terminology knowledge base

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
  • PBM experience
  • Advanced knowledge of NCPDP and other types of prescription drug claims
  • Working knowledge of Medicare Part B and D coverage guidelines and payment methodologies / previous retail pharmacy experience
  • Previous call center experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team, with some supervision and direction from the manager
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality to include but not limited to patients and coworkers

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills, customer service skills, and verbal and written communication skills to include but not limited to patients, physicians, clinical staff, contracted providers and managers
  • High degree of professionalism to always include both personal conduct and appearance
