Job summary

Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic in Toppenish, WA is seeking a Part Time Pharmacy Assistant for 20 hours per week with 4 hour afternoon shifts Monday through Friday. The role includes patient data entry, dispensing support, and coordinating with Pharmacists to ensure safe, accurate medications.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of pharmacy assistant, office, or customer service experience.
  • Pharmacy Assistant state registration required within 60 days (or active Pharmacy Intern License).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required at level 9.
  • Strong verbal and listening communication with a customer-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

  • Answers the phone and transfers calls to appropriate staff.
  • Enters patient data and billing information into the system.
  • Delivers prescriptions to patients and collects payment and signature.
  • Coordinates prescription counseling with the Pharmacist as needed.
  • Maintains stock levels and restocks based on minimum inventory levels.
  • Verifies orders and places items on shelves; checks expiration dates.
  • Processes refills and prior authorizations as allowed by state regulations.
  • Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Join our team as a Part Time Pharmacy Assistant at Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic in Toppenish, WA!
*4 hour shifts, M-F in the afternoon until 6:30 pm

Pharmacy Assistants play a vital role in supporting patient access to medications and pharmacy services at YVFWC. This role provides essential clerical, customer service, and medication support functions to help ensure patients receive accurate, timely, and safe pharmacy services. This position helps ensure smooth pharmacy operations and a positive patient experience.

Position Highlights:
  • 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week)
  • $18.75-$22.97/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates

What You’ll Do:
  • Answers the phone, answers non-professional level inquiries and transfers calls to appropriate staff
  • Enters patient data and billing information in the system including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor and diagnosis
  • Delivers prescription to the patient verifying correct medication is provided. Collects payment and signature from the patient
  • Coordinates prescription counseling by the Pharmacist as needed
  • Maintains awareness of stock level and enters order for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verifies quantity and submits order to the Wholesaler
  • Verifies product orders received with invoice and purchase order. Places a sticker on each item and places it on the shelf
  • Monitors and checks expiration dates on drugs in stock
  • Returns or discards dispensed prescription to stock if not picked up by patient. Enters information in the system for reverse billing as allowed by state regulations
  • Processes prescription refills verifying refill availability as allowed by state regulations
  • Completes third party billing form and contacts Provider if prior authorization as allowed by state regulations
  • Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of pharmacy assistant, office, administrative, patient care or customer service experience
  • Pharmacy Assistant state registration required within 60 days of hire (or active Pharmacy Intern License)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills required at a level 9
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning and copying
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail
  • Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems including Microsoft Office preferred
  • Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system preferred

Drug testing: This job will require a pre-employment drug screen which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment
