Rochester General Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support distributive and clinical activities under a pharmacist preceptor. The program prepares students to practice as fully competent pharmacists upon completion.

The internship is a Per Diem, on-site position in the Rochester, NY Pharmacy department. Enrollment in an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy is required, and a permit must be obtained within 90 days after completing the first year of pharmacy school.

SUMMARYThe Pharmacy Internship program is a progressive program designed to prepare pharmacy students to function as fully competent pharmacists upon completion. Pharmacy Students are provided opportunities to experience distributive and clinical activities to enhance their formal education. Per NYS regulations, interns are also assigned a pharmacist preceptor. The preceptor assumes the responsibility for training the intern, even though the intern may practice occasionally under the supervision of another pharmacist in the same pharmacy.STATUS: Per DiemLOCATION: Rochester General HospitalDEPARTMENT: PharmacySCHEDULE: Days/EveningsATTRIBUTESThe Pharmacy Student must be enrolled in a college of pharmacy that has been accredited by the ACPE (Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education). Staff rely on strong visual and auditory acuity to accurately observe specimens, read instrumentation, monitor patients, respond to alarms, and communicate effectively with care teams. Cognitive demands include multitasking, prioritizing clinical and laboratory workflows, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. Emotional resilience is necessary due to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and the need for precise and compassionate interaction with patients and colleagues. Environmental exposures may include infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, chemical reagents, and wet surfaces.
