Job summary

U.S. Air Force is seeking Pharmacy Specialist candidates to support pharmacists by interpreting, dispensing and explaining medications to patients. Training begins with Basic Military Training, followed by Technical Training and Tech School at Ft. Sam Houston, TX.

The program develops Airmen through hands-on experience, with a focus on patient safety, proper storage, and secure handling of controlled substances as part of a broader healthcare mission.

Job description

An integral part of keeping our Airmen and their families healthy happens in the pharmacy. Responsible for interpreting, filling and dispensing prescriptions, Pharmacy specialists work with Pharmacists to help keep their patients healthy. These experts also work directly with patients and providers to ensure that they fully understand their medications in order to keep them healthy and safe from unintended misuse.

What you’ll do

• Develop efficient work methods and operating procedures
• Conduct periodic inspections of drug storage and usage areas
• Safeguard chemicals, drugs and mild narcotics

Requirements

You must meet several requirements before joining the Air Force. These concern your background, overall health and other standards set by the Air Force, Department of Defense and federal law.

You must be 17–42 years of age, a U.S. citizen and obtain a qualifying ASVAB score.

High School Students may start their application as early as the end of their junior year.

Applicants who are non‑graduates or non‑alternate credential holders must obtain an AFQT Test score of 65 or higher on the ASVAB.
