Job summary

Shriners Children’s St. Louis is seeking a PRN Pharmacist for weekend coverage. The pharmacist will properly check, prepare, and dispense medications, ensuring regulatory compliance and safe medication storage.

You will receive prescriptions and orders, verify dosing, interactions, and contraindications; assist the Pharmacy Manager in departmental tasks; and manage controlled substances in a per diem, on-site role dedicated to pediatric patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Pharmacy required.
• Pharmacy license in state of practice required.
• PharmD degree preferred.
• Hospital Pharmacy experience (2 years) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and oversees the preparation and dispensing of medications, guided by professional standards of practice.
• Receive prescriptions and medication orders from providers.
• Check medication orders for proper dosing, contraindications, interactions.
• Prepares, fills, and dispenses medications based upon physician orders.
• Assesses the appropriateness of medications prescribed, monitors medication effects on the patient and provides drug information to hospital and medical staff.
• Assist the Pharmacy Manager in planning, developing, coordinating and controlling pharmacy department functions and in training, supervising and evaluating pharmacy support personnel.
• Orders CII controlled substances and maintain control of all controlled substances.
