Job summary

Renown Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist Supervisor at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV. This role provides pharmacy staff supervision, operational oversight of the inpatient pharmacy, and reports to pharmacy leadership to align daily operations with clinical goals.

The position drives drug information services, anticoagulation monitoring, scheduling, recruitment, onboarding, coaching and annual appraisals.

Qualifications

• Education: Pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical training preferred.
• Experience: hospital pharmacy experience preferred; management experience preferred.
• License(s): Nevada Pharmacist license upon hire; board certification preferred.
• Certification(s): BLS and ACLS within first 90 days.
• Computer / Typing: MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Word); 25 WPM typing.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision of pharmacy staff and oversee inpatient operations at Renown Regional Medical Center.
• Manage staffing including hiring, onboarding, coaching, evaluation, and scheduling.
• Train pharmacists, residents, nurse practitioners, interns, technicians, and students.
• Participate in quality initiatives and process improvement projects.
• Support 24/7 inpatient pharmacy operations; overtime may be required.
• Collaborate with management to meet financial and clinical goals; participate in budgeting.
• Attend staff and pharmacist meetings regularly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for providing pharmacy staff supervision and under the direction of pharmacy leadership, provides operational oversight for the inpatient pharmacy at Renown Regional Medical Center.

Nature and Scope

This position is challenged to provide pharmaceutical care to each of its customers in drug information and drug therapy monitoring within the anticoagulation service.

The active clinical pharmacist and/or pharmacy staff will report to this position. This position is responsible for the daily staff management of their direct reports, including hiring, onboarding, coaching and evaluation. This person is also responsible for ensuring adequate staffing (including scheduling),

This position is challenged to assist in the training of pharmacists, residents, nurse practitioners, pharmacy interns, pharmacy technicians and students as well as the supervision of same, adherence to policy and procedure, and coordination of workload.

The position functions as a resource to management with respect to quality initiatives participation, providing information to improve and enhance operational services as well as work on process improvement projects as assigned.

The incumbent may be required to support the inpatient pharmacy, work varying shifts and days to meet the needs of the Department of Pharmacy which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Overtime may be requested.

The incumbent works with the Pharmacy manager to meet financial and clinical goals of the hospital. They are expected to participate in the annual budget process and ensure an efficient and effective operation.

The incumbent is expected to attend on a regular basis staff meetings, pharmacist meetings, etc.

The incumbent may perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

• Education: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely and effectively. Completion of a Pharmacy Clinical Practice Residency or equivalent training program in clinical pharmacy is preferred.
• Experience: Applicants with previous hospital pharmacy experience will be given preference. Previous management experience preferred.
• License(s): Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Pharmacist license upon hire (status Active or Temporary). Board Certification is preferred.
• Certification(s): Healthcare BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the first 90 days of employment is required.
• Computer / Typing: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Type 25 WPM.
