Job summary

Logan Health's Specialty Pharmacy in Kalispell, MT is seeking a PRN Pharmacist to support vacation and schedule coverage. You will contribute to safe, effective patient care through collaborations, medication reviews, and education within a multidisciplinary team.

Applicants must have a PharmD, Montana license, strong data entry and Math skills, and RQI requirements. The role includes precepting students and contributing to policy and quality initiatives within a dynamic pharmacy operation.

Qualifications

  • PharmD or equivalent clinical experience required.
  • Current Montana State Board of Pharmacy license required.
  • Accurate data entry and math skills.
  • RQI Provider (BLS) within 7 days of hire/transfer.
  • RQI and ACLS as applicable to assigned area.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent judgments.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate orders for therapeutic appropriateness and dosing.
  • Provide pharmacotherapy recommendations and drug information.
  • Daily review of pharmacy reports and pharmacokinetic monitoring.
  • Document interventions in the electronic medical record.
  • Support formulary decisions and CPAs; update CPAs as needed.
  • Precept pharmacy students on rotations and clinical projects.
  • Coordinate medication ordering and administration for oncology patients.

Logan Health is looking for a PRN Pharmacist to assist our Specialty Pharmacy in beautiful Kalispell, MT!

This role will assist with vacation coverage and other schedule coverage as needed within our Specialty Pharmacy.

This position delivers appropriate and safe medical care in an efficient and cost effective manner, among a team of multidisciplinary health care professionals. The scope of practice includes direct patient care through collaborative practice agreements, patient education, medication reconciliation, and drug information as applicable to assigned area(s). Supports the organization in fulfilling the mission, vision, and values of Logan Health.

Qualifications
  • PharmD from a College of Pharmacy accredited by American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, or equivalent clinical experience required.
  • Current Montana State Board of Pharmacy, Registered Pharmacist License required.
  • Accurate data entry skills, analytical and advanced math skills required.
  • RQI Provider (BLS) within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first, required.
  • RQI required and as applicable to assigned area(s):
    • First Responder required for assignment: Clinic, Retail, Behavioral Health, IS and Administration Pharmacists.
    • ACLS required for all other assigned area(s).
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments under stressful situations at times. Must work effectively and efficiently without direct supervision.

Job Specific Duties
  • Evaluates and verifies orders for therapeutic appropriateness, proper dosing, optimal dosage form, drug interactions, allergic reactions, route and rate of administration, and therapeutic redundancy.
  • Provides patient-specific pharmacotherapy recommendations and drug information to the appropriate stakeholders as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • Performs daily review of pharmacy reports including pharmacokinetic monitoring as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • Documents clinical interventions appropriately in electronic medical record.
  • Implements all drug use policy and formulary decisions of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee.
  • Reviews and updates Collaborative Practice Agreements per department protocol for assigned area(s).
  • Supports and precepts pharmacy students on practice rotations as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • Assesses and evaluates the medical and drug literature. Compares and contrasts therapeutic regimens and uses for new or existing drug treatments.
  • Provides direct and indirect patient care for patients through Collaborative Practice Agreements as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • Develops and participates in operational and clinical projects as determined by departmental needs and ongoing projects as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • Performs direct patient care rounding, order verification, discharge counseling, and education of other healthcare professionals as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • Supervises the pharmacy technicians as applicable to assigned area(s). Serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students on rotations as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • Maintains pharmacy knowledge through continuing education and applies new principles to current practice as needed.
  • Exhibits knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to job duties and HIPPA.
  • Coordinates medication ordering, preparation, dispensing, and administration systems for the oncology patient populations as applicable to assigned area(s).

Schedule

PRN, 8-hour day shifts, shifts may fall between Monday - Friday.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
