Job summary

Ultipro in Louisiana seeks a licensed hospital pharmacist to compound and prepare medications, consult with physicians on orders, and monitor TPN solutions and related therapies.

The candidate should hold a PharmD or Bachelor in Pharmacy and be licensed in Louisiana, with at least one year of hospital experience preferred. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills are essential for a high-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed and registered pharmacist with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.
• Hospital pharmacy experience of 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Compounding and preparing ordered pharmaceutical preparations
• Contacting and conferring physicians on questions or irregularities regarding medication orders
• Preparing TPN solutions and Monitoring TPN patients as required
• Mixing of irrigating solutions and intravenous additive solutions using aseptic technique with laminar air flow hood or CAL, or CACI for hazardous medications
• Shows competencies in aseptic technique, garbing and gowning, and didactic training in IV and HD preparation
• Consulting with physician and nursing staff concerning availability, side effects and incompatibilities of currently available drugs
• Responsible for the collection of Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement data
• Interprets prescription orders and contacts provider or insurer as indicated
• Performs medication counseling for patients as requested
• Supervises activities and checks work of pharmacy technicians
• Performs other duties as assigned
