Job summary

Lane Regional Medical Center is seeking a licensed pharmacist to join the hospital pharmacy team. The role involves compounding, reviewing orders, and ensuring safe medication use across inpatient services.

The candidate should hold a Doctorate or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy and be registered with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy, with hospital experience preferred. This is an on-site, full-time position in Zachary, LA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Doctorate of Pharmacy and license with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of one year hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Compounding and preparing ordered pharmaceutical preparations.
  • Contacting and conferring with physicians about medication orders.
  • Preparing TPN solutions and monitoring TPN patients as required.
  • Mixing irrigating and intravenous additive solutions using aseptic technique with laminar hood or CAL or CACI for hazardous meds.
  • Demonstrates competencies in aseptic technique, garbing and gowning, and IV/HD preparation training.
  • Consulting with physician and nursing staff about availability, form, side effects and incompatibilities of drugs.
  • Responsible for collecting Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement data.
  • Interprets prescription orders and contacts provider or insurer as indicated.
  • Performs medication counseling for patients as requested.
  • Supervises activities and checks work of pharmacy technicians.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Preparing TPN solutions and Monitoring TPN Patients as required
  • Mixing of irrigating solutions and intravenous additive solutions as required using aseptic technique with the laminar air flow hood or CAL, or CACI for hazardous medications
  • Shows competencies in aseptic technique, garbing and gowning, and didactic training in IV and HD preparation
  • Consulting with physician and nursing staff concerning availability, form, side effects and incompatibilities of currently available drugs
  • Responsible for the collection of Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement data
  • Interprets prescription orders and contacts provider or insurer as indicated
  • Performs medication counseling for patients as requested
