Job Description
What you’ll do at DBH

The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and cost‑efficient use of medications within Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare . This role supports patient care by reviewing medication profiles, verifying provider orders, managing inventory, and promoting compliance with all medication storage and handling standards. The Pharmacist collaborates closely with nursing and clinical staff to optimize medication practices and uphold high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review each patient’s medication profile to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Verify all medication orders for completeness, safety, and compliance with regulatory and hospital standards.
  • Restock, rotate, and maintain current medication inventory on patient care units.
  • Manage and maintain hospital pharmacy inventory on a daily basis to ensure medication availability and cost-effective purchasing.
  • Run required pharmacy reports and maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assure the safe, effective, and cost‑efficient use of medications throughout the hospital.
  • Perform monthly inspections of all medication rooms and other areas where medications are stored, identifying and correcting issues as needed.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to nursing personnel on proper storage, handling, and use of medications to promote safety and compliance.

This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 17 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199Pay Range Schedule . This position is located at 1756 Sagamore Road, Northfield, Ohio. Working Hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Friday.

Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will remain at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Additional Salary / Appointment Information

Employees who complete five years of total service with the State of Ohio receive an automatic 2.5% supplement based on their classification salary base. For each additional year of qualified service, they receive an extra 0.5% supplement increase annually, continuing until they reach the maximum 10% longevity supplement, which occurs at 20 years of service.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

Current & valid license to practice pharmacy as issued by Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, pursuant to Sections 4729.01 to 4729.29, inclusive of Ohio Revised Code; must provide own transportation.
