Job Summary

Prepares and dispenses all medications as prescribed. Monitors patient drug therapy; provides drug information to physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, other Medical Center employees and patients. Oversees and checks the activities of Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.

Department: Pharmacy; Location: Englewood, NJ; Status: Per Diem; Shift: As needed on weekdays; Hours: Variable day shift

Job Essentials

• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with physicians, various medical center personnel, and patients when explaining prescription use and/or gathering and exchanging other medication information.
• Analytical skills necessary to determine drug appropriateness and evaluate drug interactions.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for approximately 80% of work time when reading and interpreting physician orders and related materials, and examining and closely inspecting materials when filling medication orders and preparing IV solutions.
• Ability to prepare and dispense medications in accordance with established hospital and departmental procedures.
