Job Overview

This role involves optimizing patient care through safe, rational, and cost-effective pharmaceutical services, including drug dispensing, intravenous admixture, and drug information provision. The pharmacist conducts drug therapy monitoring, implements interventions to reduce adverse events, and supervises pharmacy support staff.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Processing prescriptions: Review and assess medication prescriptions independently, ensure safe and effective therapies, and resolve issues (20%).
  2. Drug information and patient interventions: Provide accurate drug information, document interventions, and collaborate with healthcare teams (20%).
  3. Department management assistance: Supervise and train pharmacy staff, oversee inventory and controlled substances compliance (20%).
  4. Work environment maintenance: Support department operations, maintain cleanliness and orderliness (20%).
  5. Safety and compliance: Participate in quality improvement, promote safety, and ensure courteous service (20%).
  6. Night Pharmacist duties (if applicable): Manage nightly pharmacy activities, resolve medication issues, and troubleshoot IT and automation problems.
  7. Additional duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in PA within 120 days
Preferred:
  • Hospital experience preferred
