Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE is seeking a Pharmacist Intern to support pharmacy operations under the guidance of licensed pharmacists. The role includes assisting with medication ordering, dispensing, and patient education, while maintaining accurate records and safety standards.

The intern will participate in sterile product preparation, inventory management, and patient-focused counseling as supervised by pharmacists.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Currently enrolled or graduated from an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program and in good academic standing.
• Active registration with the Nebraska Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist Intern prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations.
• Packages medications, restocks items in dispensing areas, identifies and fills replacement items in floor stock areas and crash carts.
• Prepares sterile products including large volume items and piggyback items.
• Picks up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas during deliveries.
• Generates reports and re-dispenses labels as required.
• Answer phones and assist customers at the front counter and make deliveries when requested.
• Tracks expiration dates for medications and removes expiring items.
• Under supervision, may administer vaccines and provide patient counseling and drug information.

ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program
