Job summary

El Rio Health is seeking a Pharmacist Intern to join our interdisciplinary health care team at a Tucson clinic. Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, you will help dispense medications and provide patient counseling on prescribed therapies and drug interactions.

You will perform pharmaceutical care and administrative duties, ensure HIPAA compliance, review drug therapy for appropriateness, and collaborate with providers to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Must hold Pharmacist Intern License per AZ State Board requirements.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
• Level I fingerprint clearance card (or applied) before start date.

Responsibilities

• Disperse medications and provide counseling to patients and staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all activities.
• Review drug therapy for appropriateness and provide drug information to the care team.
• Coordinate with pharmacists for final verification and counseling on drug interactions.
