Job summary

John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX seeks a Critical Care ED Pharmacist for a 13-week travel assignment in the Emergency Department and ICU. Evening or swing shifts offered, with potential day shifts if rounding experience is available.

Requirements include BCCCP/BCEMP, PGY2 in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine or 5 years ICU/ED experience, Texas license, and current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications. Onsite care with inpatient critical care responsibilities and STAT medication support.

Qualifications

  • Board certification in CCM/EM pharmacy required or eligible.
  • PGY2 CC/EM residency or 5+ years ICU/ED clinical care experience.
  • Active Texas pharmacy license and current BLS/ACLS/PALS.

Responsibilities

  • Attend Code Blues and provide necessary medications while documenting participation.
  • Participate in Rapid Sequence Intubations and provide necessary medications.
  • Attend Code Strokes to review patient profiles and make treatment recommendations.
  • Manage Code Sepsis responses, reviewing patient profiles and making antibiotic recommendations.
  • Review and provide comprehensive pharmacy services for all STAT orders in the ED and ICU.
  • Monitor the verification queue for all STAT orders requiring clinical intervention.
  • Conduct drug utilization reviews and monitor for drug interactions.
  • Assist in maintaining formulary integrity and participate in antibiotic stewardship programs.
  • Provide pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring services to medical staff.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for healthcare staff.

Job Description
Critical Care ED Pharmacist
Schedule

Evening shifts (12:30 PM - 9:00 PM) or swing shifts (2:00 PM - 12:30 AM), with potential day shifts if rounding experience is available (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM). Available 7 days per week preferred.

Assignment Details

Onsite in the Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit.

Requirements
  • Board certification in Critical Care Pharmacy (BCCCP) or Emergency Medicine Pharmacy (BCEMP) required.
  • PGY2 residency in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine or 5 years of clinical care experience in ICU and/or ED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an ASHP accredited residency or 4+ years of acute hospital experience.
  • Pharmacy license from the state required.
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
