CVS Health/Omnicare is seeking a licensed pharmacist in Louisiana for a full-time role overseeing dispensing and compliance within a long-term care setting.

The position requires active licensure, potential immunization certification, and experience in supervising pharmacy operations to ensure regulatory adherence and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Louisiana pharmacist license in good standing.
• Immunization certification or willingness to become immunization certified.
• Experience in long-term care dispensing or Pharmacist in Charge/Pharmacy Manager preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise dispensing in the pharmacy.
• Monitor regulatory and compliance developments with state boards and agencies.
• Educate staff on regulatory changes, recalls, drug information, and investigational studies.
• Implement QA programs to supervise and improve patient care and ensure drug/device safety.
• Manage procurement, storage, security, and disposition of drugs and devices.
• Maintain licensure and registrations for staff per state law.
• Respond to board notices related to compliance and licensing.
• Ensure confidentiality of prescription and patient information and enforce policies.
• Ensure compliance with accrediting rules at local, state, and federal levels.
• Serve as information resource to internal/external customers.
• May handle narcotics room compliance activities including surveys and recalls.

There is a $7,500 Sign-on Bonus for this position.

This is a full time position. The schedule will be Monday-Friday 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm. Saturday 9am-4pm and closed on Sunday. There is a weekend rotation and an on-call requirement for this position.

Overview

What We Do: Directly, and through our subsidiaries, Omnicare provides a broad array of pharmacy-related services to long term care facilities and to other customers in the healthcare environment. While senior care has long been an Omnicare specialty, we also serve other targeted populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision for the dispensing pharmacy
• Monitor industry, regulatory and compliance developments (e.g., state Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, etc.) for pending regulatory changes and partner with Division Compliance Officer and pharmacy management to address them
• Communicate and educate staff on pharmacy-related issues such as regulatory changes/compliance, FDA drug recalls, drug information, sample medications, and investigational studies
• Implement quality assurance programs for pharmacy services crafted to supervise and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of patient care, pursue opportunities to improve patient care, and resolve identified problems
• Implement policies and procedures for the procurement, storage, security and disposition of drugs and devices
• Maintain record of all required pharmacist licensure & technician registrations for current staff, as required by state law
• Respond to the board regarding any warning notice issued by the Board
• Implement policies and procedures for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of prescription information and patient health care information, and ensure that all employees of the pharmacy read, sign, and comply with the established policies and procedures
• Ensure pharmacy is in compliance with all local, state, and federal accrediting rules and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy
• Serve as a primary source of information and respond to internal and external customer questions or clarification of information
• May perform various duties associated with narcotic room compliance to include: reporting of periodic pharmacy self-surveys for controlled substances prescription accuracy, respond to and resolve regulatory surveyor's inquiries related to compliance issues, contact physician to receive hard copy of prescription and perform drug recall surveillance and reporting

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Must be a licensed pharmacist in the state of Louisiana, must be active & in good standing

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year management experience in a Pharmacist in charge or Pharmacy Manager role
• 1 year of pharmacist experience in a long term care dispensing role
• Immunization certification or willingness to become immunization certified

Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$51.06 - $81.13

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
