Responsibilities

• Review and approve prescriptions for appropriateness, accuracy, and legality

• Communicate with customers to provide medication information and guidance
• Maintain accurate patient profiles and dispensing histories

• Ensure pharmacy operations comply with all applicable laws and policies
• Direct daily activities and workflow of Pharmacy Technicians
• Provide input on technician performance and communicate concerns to Senior Management

Pharmacist In Charge

Bronx, New York

Full Time

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, normally 8:30 AM-5:00 PM

Lunch: 30-minute lunch break

Work Setting: Onsite

The Pharmacist in Charge will oversee the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, ensuring prescriptions are reviewed and dispensed accurately, medication inventory is properly maintained, and pharmacy operations comply with applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations. The role will also lead and manage pharmacy technicians, including scheduling, performance oversight, and daily workflow management.

Ideal candidates must have previous retail pharmacy management experience and an active New York Pharmacist License. Candidates with a license in process or who have not yet received their NY license will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and execute provider prescriptions for appropriateness, accuracy, and legality.
• Prepare and dispense medications using correct dosages and appropriate materials.
• Organize pharmacy products for efficient identification and dispensing.
• Manage medication inventory, including stocking, labeling, monitoring, and preventing expiration or deterioration.
• Communicate with customers to understand their needs and provide appropriate medication information and guidance.
• Maintain accurate patient profiles and medication dispensing histories.
• Maintain current knowledge of HIP nd Fraud, Waste, and Abuse requirements.
• Ensure pharmacy operations comply with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.
• Ensure pharmacy employees understand and follow applicable facility policies.
• Direct the daily activities and workflow of Pharmacy Technicians.
• Provide input regarding technician performance evaluations and communicate behavioral or performance concerns to Senior Management.
• Manage Pharmacy Technician schedules and communicate leave or accommodation requests to Senior Management.
• Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
• Active New York Pharmacist License - required.
• Candidates with a NY license in process will not be considered.
• Minimum 3-5 years of retail pharmacy management experience; 5+ years preferred/required per the experience section.
• Previous retail pharmacy experience is required.
• Experience leading and managing pharmacy technicians.
• Experience using a Pharmacy Patient Management System.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong leadership, communication, and management skills.
