LOCATION OF POSITION: Board of Pharmacy, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21215

Main Purpose of Job: The main purpose of this position is to supervise the Pharmacist II and investigator staff, overseeing the complaint process and preparation of investigation reports from public and stakeholders concerning pharmacy services. This position is responsible for assigning cases to the Pharmacist II to investigate complaints and develop a caseload of all cases involving pharmacists and other pharmacy personnel involving refusal to fill allegations and/or fraud. This position oversees the submission of cases to OAG through the Pharmacist II and ensures cases are submitted in a timely manner to OAG. This position is responsible for the issuing of subpoenas from the board as needed, and monthly training of staff in the processing of investigations and time management. This position is responsible for assuring investigations are processed within 180 days, as required by DBM. This position ensures all investigative reports are complete and includes accurate information. This position is responsible for preparing a summary of board cases to be presented to the compliance committee by the Compliance Director and ensures all information presented is accurate. This position submits items for the monthly board meeting to be reviewed and approved by the Compliance Director, who is responsible for submitting the board agenda. This position is responsible for preparing and submitting items for the compliance committee agenda to the Compliance Director for review and approval and submission for posting to the MIS team. This position is not eligible for telework and must ensure each investigator works full time in the office 3 full days weekly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Pharmacist or two years of experience dispensing and compounding prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care at a State facility. Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Pharmacist classification or Pharmacist specialty codes in the Pharmacist field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Pharmacist from the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.

  2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
