Job summary

fingerlakes is seeking a pharmacist to supervise the hospital pharmacy operations and support patient care. The role focuses on safe distribution of medications, clinical consults, and supervision of technicians.

The candidate will oversee pharmacy information systems and participate in upgrades to the automated dispensing system, ensuring optimal safety and efficiency in the pharmacy workflow.

Qualifications

• BS in Pharmacy is required.
• PharmD is preferred.
• Current NYS Pharmacist license (or eligible).
• One year hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Familiarity with unit dose systems, IV admixtures, parenteral nutrition and chemotherapy.
• Knowledge of pharmacokinetic dosing and dose adjustments across age groups.
• Experience with adverse drug reaction reporting and quality initiatives.

Works cooperatively with other health care team members to provide pharmacy component of patient care services. Supervises distribution of pharmaceuticals to patients and provides information to promote the safe and effective use of these agents. Provides pharmacokinetic, antibiotic, and parenteral nutrition consults to physicians on request. Acts as a shift supervisor for Pharmacy Technicians. Performs additional responsibilities as requested. Provides oversight of pharmacy information systems, and implements changes and upgrades to the automated medication dispensing system.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• One year of previous hospital pharmacy experience.

SKILLS:

Minimum:

• Familiarity with unit dose systems, preparation of intravenous admixtures, parenteral nutrition solutions, and chemotherapy.
• Computer experience and knowledge of pharmacokinetic dosing principles and principles involved in dosage adjustments and monitoring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Experience with Adverse Drug Reaction reporting and performance improvement programs.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.
