Aiken Regional Medical Centers, part of Universal Health Services (UHS) in Aiken, South Carolina, seeks a Pharmacist to provide expert pharmaceutical care in an acute care setting.

You will interpret orders, monitor drug therapies, and advise practitioners on cost-effective regimens. This role requires SC licensure, a Pharm.D. or B.S. in Pharmacy, and 1–3 years hospital experience. Pyxis experience is preferred.

Qualifications

Position Description:

Responsible for demonstrating an expertise in clinical pharmacy practice and is able to serve as a resource in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients in the acute care setting.

Duties:

• Interprets medication orders (verbal and written) and transcribes to computerized patient medication profiles accurately. Maintains accurate, complete pharmacy patient medication profiles.
• Maintains awareness of developments in pharmacy and health care that relate to job responsibilities and integrates them into their practice.
• Supports the pharmacy’s pharma-coeconomic efforts. Reviews the use of targeted medications for compliance with current pharma-coeconomic programs.
• Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, adverse reactions and appropriateness of drug, dosage form, regimen route, and therapeutic duplications.
• Assists with pharmacokinetic consult service and drug dosing regimens per hospital protocol.
• Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternative to medical staff as needed.
• Supervises and directs pharmacy support personnel. Verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. Verifies the accuracy of all orders, IV admixtures and chemotherapy prepared by the technician.
• Performs other duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications

• Current licensed pharmacist in South Carolina.
