Job Summary: Provides age-specific pharmaceutical care and basic clinical services for assigned patient care areas. Contributes to goals, programs, QA, PI, and other activities for their unit/department/hospital. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manages medication orders including age-specific considerations to ensure medication safety (processing, preparation, and dispensing).
  2. Participates in pharmacotherapeutic plan processes.
  3. Manages own pharmacy practice effectively.
  4. Supervises and directs healthcare team members.
  5. Processes and prepares sterile products for dispensing.
  6. Contributes to goals, programs, and report cards for the unit/department/hospital.
  7. Provides drug information and education.
  8. Participates actively on inter and intra-departmental committees.
  9. Maximizes safety and efficiency through appropriate use of automation.
  10. Completes assigned goals.

Specifications:

  1. Experience:
    • Minimum: One year of hospital pharmacy experience.
    • Preferred: One year of hospital pharmacy experience.
  2. Education:
    • Minimum: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).
  3. Training:
    • Preferred: BLS and/or ACLS certification, advanced post-graduate training or equivalent clinical experience.
  4. Special Skills:
    • Computer literacy, interpersonal skills, general clinical awareness.
    • Minimum: Basic computer literacy, communication skills, and ability to interpret medication orders with accuracy.
    • Preferred: Advanced computer order entry, Microsoft Office, clinical experience, high-level cognitive skills.
  5. Licensure:
    • Current, active, unrestricted pharmacy licensure for the appropriate state or eligibility. Must acquire licensure within 120 days of hire.
    • Minimum: Pharmacist license for the appropriate state.
