Job summary

Medix seeks a licensed pharmacist in Missouri for a high-volume, closed-door pharmacy role. You will supervise technicians, review documentation, and ensure accuracy, patient safety, and HIPAA compliance.

You will handle prescription transfers, perform clinical reviews, provide patient counseling by phone, and collaborate with prescribers to resolve discrepancies while maintaining confidentiality and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • PharmD required from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Missouri Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Entry-level to 3 years of pharmacist experience; mail-order/fulfillment experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Spanish-English bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail with patient safety focus.
  • Comfort with pharmacy technology and learning new software platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with technicians, pharmacists, and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day pharmacy operations by providing guidance and oversight to pharmacy technicians and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Review technician data entry and prescription documentation for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to established pharmacy procedures.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and ensure all protected health information is handled and disposed of in accordance with HIPAA and company standards.
  • Assist with prescription transfer activities, including communication with retail chains and independent pharmacies nationwide, and help ensure transfers are completed successfully from start to finish.
  • Verify completed prescriptions in a high-volume, closed-door pharmacy environment, confirming the correct medication, strength, quantity, directions, and labeling before dispensing.
  • Conduct clinical reviews of new and refill prescriptions to identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, dosing concerns, duplications, or other medication-related issues.
  • Provide medication counseling and education to patients by phone, including guidance regarding new medications, refills, side effects, adherence, and appropriate medication use.
  • Communicate with prescribers and healthcare offices to resolve prescription discrepancies, obtain clarification, and address clinical concerns that could impact dispensing.
  • Partner with pharmacy leadership and technician teams to maintain an efficient workflow and consistently meet quality and service expectations.
  • Follow all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations, professional standards, safety requirements, and internal policies.

Requirements
  • Degree from an accredited College or School of Pharmacy.
  • Active Missouri Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Entry-level through 3 years of relevant pharmacist experience; experience within mail-order, specialty, fulfillment, or closed-door pharmacy operations is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Spanish-English bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and patient safety.
  • Comfortable working with pharmacy technology and learning new or complex software platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy environment while collaborating with technicians, pharmacists, and leadership.
