Westchester General Hospital is seeking a Pharmacist for the Night Shift to oversee the drug distribution process and ensure accuracy of orders. The role includes supervising technicians and interns, and actively participating in clinical programs to optimize patient care.
The pharmacist will provide drug information to physicians and nurses, ensure sterile and special-preparation procedures are followed, and maintain a well-organized department in a hospital setting.
Pharmacy
Provides pharmacy information throughout the hospital and to the Medical Staff. Performs special assignments as directed by the Director of Pharmacy and administration. Assists in the training and direction of pharmacy technicians, supervises the drug distribution process during assigned shifts, and actively participates in clinical pharmacy programs.
Direct and supervise the drug distribution process and workflow.
Review all medication orders for processing.
Provide drug information to physicians, nurses, and other professional personnel.
Actively participate in ongoing clinical programs, including therapeutic substitution, IV-to-PO conversions, renal dosing adjustments, and related programs.
Supervise and check the work of all Pharmacy Technicians and Interns.
Maintain a neat and orderly appearance of the department.
Ensure proper procedures are followed in the preparation of sterile products and special formula preparations.
Comply with all departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to give and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to work effectively with people of all backgrounds.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk frequently.
Ability to supervise and instruct.
Ability to lift and carry and to use hands and fingers skillfully, safely, and easily.
Light work:Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree and requires sitting a minimal amount of time.
Work is performed indoors with protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and direct a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
Ability to compute standard measures, discounts, weights, portions, ratios, prices, and volumes as are common in the processing and delivery of pharmacy services.
Read and understand instructions and convey instructions and guidance to subordinates.
Write reports using proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
Speak with poise, authority, voice control, confidence, and respect using correct English and a well-modulated voice.
Coordinate the time, place, and sequence of operations or actions based on analysis of data, including determining and reporting on events.
Supervise and interpret work procedures for a group of workers, assign specific duties, maintain harmonious working relationships, and promote efficiency.
Use body members, hand tools, and/or special devices to work with, move, or carry objects or materials.
Registered as a pharmacist in Florida.
Registered as a consultant pharmacist desired.
