Job summary

Intensive Specialty Hospital is a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) facility with four campuses in Northwest Louisiana, including Shreveport. The Pharmacist will fill and dispense medication orders, manage drug handling and storage, and ensure supply across patient care areas. The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited school.
• Must hold a current state license.
• One to three years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills with minimal guidance.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Fill and dispense medication orders and ensure proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs.
• Order, supply, and maintain necessary drug stocks for all patient care areas.
• Maintain department standards and translate policies into daily operations.
• Serve as a resource for medication therapy and literature, and coordinate with clinicians and staff.

Intensive Specialty Hospital is a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospital. We provide cardiopulmonary care, ventilator and respiratory care, complex wound care, rehabilitation therapies, addiction medicine program, geriatric psychiatry program, multidisciplinary pain program, and outpatient counseling program. With four locations, Shreveport Campus, Bossier City Campus, North Campus, and Pierremont, we are the largest provider of LTAC services in Northwest Louisiana.

The Pharmacist is responsible for the filling and dispensing of medication order including the proper handling ,usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. He/she is responsible for ordering, supplying, and maintaining necessary supplies of drugs to all patient care areas, maintaining standards set by the department, translating policies, and procedures in the daily operation of the pharmacy, acting as an information resource to patients, physician, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information and literature, as well as plans and organizes work schedule of supportive personnel and pharmacists, as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an accredited school required

• One to three years of pharmacy experience as a registered pharmacist in a hospital preferred
