Pride Health is seeking a skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our healthcare team in New York City, New York, 10016. This is a 37.5-hour per week, 13-week contract position offering guaranteed hours. This is an excellent opportunity for pharmacists with experience in clinical pharmacy, sterile processing, and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Job Summary:
The Pharmacist will provide comprehensive pharmacy services, ensuring accurate medication dispensing, assisting in sterile processing, and supporting the use of EMR systems within the healthcare facility. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in pharmacy practice, IV room processes, and hospital pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense prescribed medications and ensure the proper handling of pharmaceuticals.
- Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, dosage, and potential interactions.
- Assist in sterile processing procedures and maintain the cleanliness and sterility of pharmacy equipment.
- Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to ensure optimal medication therapy management.
- Provide patient education on the safe use of prescribed medications.
- Document medication dispensing and patient interactions in the EMR system.
- Maintain accurate and updated pharmacy records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of IV medications and solutions in a sterile environment.
- Monitor drug therapy for effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
- Ensure that all medications are stored and dispensed in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Work in compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines regarding medication administration and patient safety.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Valid license to practice as a Pharmacist issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); Primary Source Verification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in pharmacy practice, preferably in a hospital or acute care setting.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of pharmacy dispensing systems, EMR, and sterile processing procedures. IV room experience is a plus.
- Certifications: Knowledge of medication therapy management, IV medication preparation, and sterile processing techniques.
