Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University's Department of Pharmacy is seeking a full-time Pharmacist to dispense, compound, and admix drugs, provide medication counseling, and review orders for safety within our CPOE system and Pyxis profiles. You will supervise technicians, participate in drug utilization reviews and QA/PI programs, and rotate with medical teams, with on-call/holiday rotation as required.

New York State Pharmacist Licensure and PharmD are required; PGY-1 residency and hospital

Qualifications

• New York State Pharmacist Licensure.
• Pharm D. from an Accredited College of Pharmacy.
• PGY-1 residency and hospital experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Dispense, compound, admix drugs and other pharmaceuticals.
• Provide medication counseling and reconciliation.
• Review medication orders for safety and efficacy and approve in CPOE to main medication profiles.
• Review and approve Pyxis profile orders.
• Administer oncology, TPN, and investigational drug solutions as needed.
• Dispense controlled substances and maintain files.
• Supervise technicians and support staff.
• Report to Senior Pharmacists, the Director, and Associate Director of Pharmacy.
• Provide in-service education to healthcare professionals on demand.
• Rotate with medical teams and participate in medication management programs.
• Be available for holiday coverage rotation and on-call/recall rotation as required.
