Job summary

Weis Markets in Mill Hall, PA, is seeking a Pharmacist to oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensure quality and regulatory compliance, and provide patient counseling.

The role requires a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy, immunization certification, and a strong focus on customer service and staff supervision in a retail pharmacy setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions by completing Drug Utilization Review and QA per state/federal regs.
• Promote clinical programs including immunization and MTM when available.
• Align objectives to department metrics; assist in inventory control to meet demand and maximize profits.
• Provide excellent customer service and healthcare counseling.
• Supervise Pharmacy Technicians and other staff; train and coach associates.
• Assume management responsibility in absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
• Maintain security of the Pharmacy and comply with laws and regulations.
• Interact with physicians to resolve issues and gather information as needed.
• Assist with department maintenance and staff development to reduce turnover and control labor costs.
• Prioritize tasks, including cycle counts and inventory management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

• Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled by completing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance, applicable to state and federal Board of Pharmacy regulations.
• Build profitable business and script growth through recommended clinical programs including appropriate immunization and when available MTM (Medication Therapy Management) and all ongoing other programs as identified.
• Responsible to align performance objectives to the 7 key department metrics that are measurable for effectiveness and efficiencies within your control of the Department. Works with the pharmacy manager on controlling inventories by helping track weekly sales, may order various pharmaceutical stock in order to meet customer demand and maximize profits.
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with medical-related issues and providing healthcare counseling.
• Supervise the work completed by Pharmacy Technicians and support staff while on duty. Assist Pharmacy Manager to train, coach, and manage Pharmacy associates.
• Assume management responsibility over the entire pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
• Demonstrates open communication with operations and pharmacy management to ensure the success of our pharmacy is upheld.
• Maintain appropriate security of the Pharmacy department.
• Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations.
• Handle and resolve customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.
• Interact with physicians and utilize reference material to gain information on customers and prescriptions and to resolve any issues that arise.
• Assist with maintaining the Pharmacy department by keeping it clean and in order. Assists manager with the ongoing training and development of department personnel to improve performance, ensure continuous development, reduce turnover and control labor costs.
• Prioritize Pharmacy Department tasks and follow through to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner. Including, but not limited, to cycle counts, inventory management and will-calls to customers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position includes the supervision of pharmacy technicians and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Weis Markets policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
