Weis Markets is seeking a Pharmacist to oversee daily pharmacy operations in York, PA. You will ensure accuracy of prescriptions, drive clinical programs, and supervise pharmacy staff.

The role includes managing inventory, maintaining compliance with laws, and delivering excellent patient care while collaborating with physicians and the pharmacy team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.), or equivalent in Pharmacy.
  • Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (e.g., APhA).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy of prescriptions via Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance per state/federal regulations.
  • Promote clinical programs including immunization and MTM where available.
  • Align dept objectives with seven key metrics and help manage inventories to meet demand and maximize profits.
  • Provide excellent customer service and healthcare counseling.
  • Supervise Pharmacy Technicians; train, coach, and manage associates; assist Pharmacy Manager.
  • Possess responsibility for the pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Maintain security of the Pharmacy department and comply with laws.
  • Resolve customer issues to build trust and loyalty; interact with physicians for information and issue resolution.
  • Assist in maintaining the pharmacy department and training staff for development and reduced turnover.
  • Prioritize tasks including cycle counts, inventory management, and will-calls.

Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled by completing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance, applicable to state and federal Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Build profitable business and script growth through recommended clinical programs including appropriate immunization and when available MTM (Medication Therapy Management) and all ongoing other programs as identified.
  • Responsible to align performance objectives to the 7 key department metrics that are measurable for effectiveness and efficiencies within your control of the Department. Works with the pharmacy manager on controlling inventories by helping track weekly sales, may order various pharmaceutical stock in order to meet customer demand and maximize profits.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with medical-related issues and providing healthcare counseling.
  • Supervise the work completed by Pharmacy Technicians and support staff while on duty. Assist Pharmacy Manager to train, coach, and manage Pharmacy associates.
  • Assume management responsibility over the entire pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Demonstrates open communication with operations and pharmacy management to ensure the success of our pharmacy is upheld.
  • Maintain appropriate security of the Pharmacy department.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Handle and resolve customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.
  • Interact with physicians and utilize reference material to gain information on customers and prescriptions and to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Assist with maintaining the Pharmacy department by keeping it clean and in order. Assists manager with the ongoing training and development of department personnel to improve performance, ensure continuous development, reduce turnover and control labor costs.
  • Prioritize Pharmacy Department tasks and follow through to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner. Including, but not limited, to cycle counts, inventory management and will-calls to customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position includes the supervision of pharmacy technicians and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Weis Markets policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.
