Job Title: Full-Time Pharmacist Job Description This full-time Pharmacist position in a long-term care pharmacy focuses on accurately receiving, transcribing, and entering resident prescriptions into the pharmacy operating systems. The role involves preparing, filling, packaging, dispensing, and coordinating medications for shipment, while delivering high-quality customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive resident prescriptions and verify completeness and accuracy before processing.
• Transcribe and enter prescription information into the pharmacys operating and data entry systems with a high level of accuracy.
• Perform order entry for long-term care prescriptions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal procedures.
• Dispense medications safely and accurately according to prescription orders and pharmacy standards.
• Fill and package medications for residents in long-term care settings, following established protocols and timelines.
• Prepare medications for shipment, including labeling, packaging, and verifying contents prior to distribution.
• Provide professional customer service to healthcare providers, caregivers, and other stakeholders, addressing questions and resolving issues related to prescriptions and orders.
• Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and other team members to maintain efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment.
• Use pharmacy computer systems and related technology to manage prescription processing, order fulfillment, and documentation.
• Support opening and closing pharmacy procedures as scheduled, including inventory checks and system updates.
• Work various shifts, including later shifts and some weekend shifts, while maintaining consistent service quality and accuracy.

Essential Skills

• Active Registered Pharmacist license.
• Proficiency in data entry for prescriptions and pharmacy records.
• Experience with prescription order entry and dispensing in a pharmacy setting.
• Strong customer service skills in a healthcare or pharmacy environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced long-term care pharmacy.
• Solid computer skills, including the use of pharmacy software and operating systems.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in transcribing, filling, and dispensing medications.
• Comfort working later shifts and variable schedules, including some weekends.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a retail pharmacy or long-term care pharmacy environment.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential is beneficial, particularly for understanding technician workflows.
• Experience in fulfillment, including filling, packaging, and shipping medications.
• Familiarity with long-term care (LTC) pharmacy processes and regulations.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple prescriptions and tasks simultaneously.
• Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare professionals and internal team members.

Work Environment

This role is based in a long-term care pharmacy that operates in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You will work extensively with pharmacy computer systems, data entry tools, and medication packaging and dispensing equipment. The schedule for this full-time position varies and includes shifts between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM EST, with some Saturday and Sunday shifts, often earlier in the day. You may be scheduled for both opening and closing shifts within the same week and must be comfortable working later shifts as needed. The environment emphasizes accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration to support residents in long-term care facilities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
