Job summary

Cencora is seeking a Pharmacist to deliver pharmacy support and operations for veterinary prescriptions. You will manage dispensing, labeling, and records, while ensuring quality and compliance within a non-compounding, closed-door environment. Hours are 9am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday, with no weekends.

Requires a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and an active Pennsylvania license; new graduates are encouraged to apply and may participate in multi-state licensing as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain valid prescription information from licensed veterinarian or designated agent prior to dispensing.
  • Initiate and receive calls and faxes for medication orders.
  • Clarify medication orders and ensure accuracy.
  • Dispense medications according to veterinarian prescriptions.
  • Prepare medications per current veterinary pharmacy standards.
  • Label medications and ensure timely, safe product delivery to end users.
  • Answer questions from healthcare providers and end users regarding medication usage.
  • Maintain records of all drugs dispensed and prescriptions filled.
  • Prepare required reports (daily dispensing log, monthly usage reports).
  • Ensure pharmacy products are stored under appropriate conditions.
  • Maintain high standard of customer service and back-up coverage as needed.
  • Cross-train across all pharmacy operations and manage inventory tasks.
  • Maintain active pharmacist license in home state and acquire non-resident licenses as required.

Job Details

The Pharmacist d elivers pharmacy support and operations assignments independently, managing scope, quality, and timelines with minimal guidance. Applies complete practical knowledge of pharmacy operations across varied tasks, maintaining awareness of upstream and downstream workflow impacts. Communicates within the function and with select partners to confirm requirements, Service Level Agreements, and handoffs. Solves problems using established methods; recommends and implements process improvements within approved change controls. Makes independent decisions guided by experience and policy, escalating novel risks or cross-team trade-offs as appropriate.

Hours : 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, no weekends required, non-compounding pharmacy, closed-door pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities
  1. Obtain valid prescription information from licensed veterinarian or designated agent prior to dispensing.
  2. Initiate and receive calls and faxes for medication orders.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of and take action in clarification of medication orders.
  4. Dispense medications according to prescription from the licensed veterinarian.
  5. Prepare medication for use by end-user according to current standards of practice in the profession of veterinary pharmacy.
  6. Ensure that medications are labeled appropriately and that products are delivered to end-users in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
  7. Answer questions, as appropriate, from other healthcare providers and end-users regarding medication and approved usage.
  8. Maintain records of all drugs dispensed and of any and all prescriptions filled.
  9. Prepare all reports as required (i.e. daily dispensing log, monthly usage reports).
  10. Ensure that drug products, in the pharmacy, are stored in appropriate conditions.
  11. Maintain a high standard of customer service.
  12. Provide back-up service for other pharmacies as needed.
  13. Cross-trained across all pharmacy operational functions; performs tasks including inventory replenishment, wave orders, prescription entry, pick/tote orders, order entry, e-filing in SharePoint, WMS inventory/order control, clinic/CER communication, resolving order issues, packing/closing orders, printing Rx from SharePoint, and canceling orders in WMS as applicable - not limited to these responsibilities.
  14. Maintains active pharmacist license in home state and obtains/maintains required non-resident state licenses as business needs dictate to support multi-state operations and customer service.
  15. Performs related duties as assigned.
  16. Requires Pennsylvania active pharmacist license.
Education

Requires a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Unrestricted, current state license as a Registered Pharmacist in resident state is required. New Graduates are encouraged to apply.
