Qualifications

Job Description

Performs professional pharmacy services and serves as a first line supervisor responsible for dispensing of drugs and devices; counseling of clients on their drugs therapy; supervises pharmacy supportive personnel and maintains effective working relationships with the medical and dental staff.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Responsible for reading, interpreting and dispensing of drugs and devices to clients.
  • Provides the medical, dental and nursing staff with drug information and other pharmaceutical information.
  • Supervises and assigns duties to supportive pharmacy personnel.
  • Represents the pharmacy on committee assignments.
  • Counsels clients on their pertinent information related to their therapy.
  • Offers input to the Director of Pharmacy and supportive personnel regarding ideas to improve pharmacy operations.
  • Assists Director of Pharmacy in directing operations as assigned. Manages work flow activities to shorten client prescription waiting time.
  • Promotes and maintains effective professional working relationships with the medical and other staff.
  • Full Time Position - 40 hrs/Week
Required Skills
  • Working knowledge of the Science of pharmacy.
  • Ability to understand and work with computerized pharmacy systems. Ability to communicate and work effectively with other clinic professionals and support staff. Ability to be understanding and compassionate to clients.
  • Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Ability to identify and categorize each patient's age-specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent or geriatric patients. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
License/Registration/Certification
  • Licensed as a registered pharmacist in the State of Texas.
