Job description

RPh on the Go is seeking an experienced Retail Pharmacist for a full-time, 13-week contract based in Dubuque, Iowa. This pharmacist will float between several pharmacy locations throughout the surrounding area, supporting both high-volume and rural retail settings.

Term of Assignment: 13 weeks

Start: ASAP

Schedule: Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday coverage as needed

• Hours: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
• Saturday Hours: Half-day shifts when required

Pharmacy Software: McKesson Enterprise

Floating Locations:

The pharmacist will primarily be based in Dubuque and may float to:

• Bellevue, IA – approximately 30 minutes from Dubuque
• Monticello, IA – approximately 40 minutes from Dubuque
• Preston, IA – approximately 50 minutes from Dubuque
• Independence, IA – approximately 1 hour 15 minutes from Dubuque

Dubuque is the busiest location, filling approximately 2,800-3,000 prescriptions per week. The surrounding rural locations average approximately 600 prescriptions per week.

Job Duties:

• Accurately dispense medications while ensuring safe and efficient service to patients
• Counsel patients regarding medications, proper use, potential interactions, and treatment regimens
• Respond professionally to patient questions, concerns, and complaints
• Maintain appropriate medication inventory and controlled substance records
• Assist with inventory management and stock maintenance
• Resolve prescription and patient-related issues
• Research and clarify third-party insurance and coverage concerns
• Maintain compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
• Adapt to varying prescription volumes and workflows across multiple pharmacy locations

Requirements:

• Clear and active Iowa Pharmacist license
• Iowa temporary pharmacist license accepted
• Minimum 1 year of retail pharmacy experience
• Comfortable working in a high-volume retail pharmacy environment
• Ability and willingness to travel between the assigned Iowa pharmacy locations
• Strong patient counseling, communication, and problem-solving skills
