Talent Healthcare Staffing Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced inpatient pharmacist for a 13-week assignment in Cincinnati, OH.

You will compound and dispense medications under the Director of Pharmacy, oversee daily department operations, and supervise support staff. The role requires OH license, hospital experience, Epic system proficiency, sterile compounding familiarity, and adherence to USP 797/800.

Qualifications

• Ohio state pharmacist license required.

Responsibilities

• Review orders in Epic and ensure correct dose, frequency, and administration times.
• Dispense labeled medications following USP 797/800 and scanning processes.
• Supervise support staff and coordinate break times to maintain patient care.
• Monitor inventory, remove outdated drugs, and initiate orders as needed.
• Maintain required pharmacy records per state and federal regulations.
• Promote safety policies and represent the hospital in professional interactions.
• Assist in quality improvement and problem solving within the department.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, and according to standard procedure, an inpatient pharmacist compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceuticals upon receiving orders from a licensed practitioner. Performs all duties necessary to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs. Supervises support personnel in all work areas as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Understands the Epic system which allows them to effectively review, verify, and prioritize orders using the chart to ensure medications prescribed are the appropriate dose, frequency and administration times; drug allergies, drug-drug interactions, drug-disease and incompatibilities are avoided. Supports the formulary.
• Accurately dispenses properly labeled medications following the scanning process. Supports and follows the most up to date USP guidelines (797/800). Understands the Abacus software / Baxa pump.
• Prioritizes and monitors daily operational duties in assigned areas using support personnel in the most effective manner, including coordination of break and lunch (dinner), to ensure patient care services are maintained.
• Monitors drug supply and initiates orders as required as well as regularly inspecting pharmacy and assigned department inventory to ensure that drugs which are outdated are removed from stock.
• Properly maintains all pharmacy records as required by State, Federal and Department of Pharmacy regulations for the dispensing and disposition of narcotics, dangerous drugs and investigational drugs.
• Follows departmental and hospital safety policies and procedures.
• As a representative of the hospital, promotes a positive image in all dealings with all other hospital employees and hospital guests.
• Assists in the identification and problem-solving activities within the department and with other health care professionals. Shows initiative for quality improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated pharmacy practice skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• One or two (1 or 2) years hospital experience.

Schedule Notes

Must have OH state license in hand.

Shift: Evenings, shifts either 4x10s or 5x8s (training will be during Day shift). 13 weeks (with potential for extension).

Experience

3 years of hospital pharmacist experience (large, academic hospital experience), Epic experience.

Additional Skills

• Familiar with sterile compounding (overseeing/checking), order verification, checking sterile products, checking dose meds, checking Pyxis.
• Fielding questions from patients/doctors, IV room, Ecmo, CRRT, consults, antibiotic dosing, etc.
