Responsibilities

Medication Dispensing and Verification:

  • Review and dispense prescribed medications accurately, ensuring the correct dosage and appropriate drug interactions.
  • Verify medication orders for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to established protocols.

Medication Therapy Management:

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapies and resolve any medication-related issues.
  • Monitor patients' responses to medications and adjust dosages as necessary to achieve desired therapeutic outcomes.

Patient Counseling and Education:

  • Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, explaining medication usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Educate patients on proper medication adherence and management to promote medication safety and compliance.

Medication Inventory Management:

  • Oversee medication inventory, ensuring appropriate stock levels and proper storage conditions.
  • Order and restock medications as needed, adhering to pharmacy regulations and guidelines.

Pharmacy Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and medication error reporting to improve patient safety.
  • Perform drug utilization reviews to identify potential drug-related problems and recommend appropriate interventions.
