STAFF TODAY is seeking a licensed pharmacist to join our team in Alderson, WV. This role offers $75 per hour and focuses on delivering high-quality patient care in a federal correctional facility. You will screen drug orders, dispense medications, instruct patients, and collaborate with physicians.

Requirements include an active U.S. pharmacist license, a diploma with transcripts, and the ability to work onsite; you must pass BOP screening.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience.
• Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. state.
• Available for the required assignment period.
• Able to work onsite in a federal correctional facility.
• Able to pass BOP security clearance and drug screening.
• Copy of pharmacist license
• Diploma and academic transcripts
• Applicable education and training credentials
• Two professional reference letters
• Clear NPDB report
• Verification of professional or medical liability insurance

Responsibilities

• Screens drug orders for interactions and incompatibilities.
• Instructs patients on proper use of medications.
• Prepares and dispenses drugs and pharmaceutical preparations.
• Fills prescriptions and bills medication administration records.
• Assists in ward inspections and audits.
• Keeps records of drugs, poisons and narcotics as required by law.
• Coordinates medication borrowing procedures from other hospitals on weekends and holidays.
• Accompanies physicians on rounds when time permits.
• Maintains and keeps in clean and orderly condition the drug and chemical supplies.

Shift Schedule

• Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays
• 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch

Candidate Requirements

Duties

• Screens drug orders for drug interactions and Incompatibilities
• Screens outpatient prescriptions for billing information and whether or not the prescription can be filled depending upon the patient's financial category
• Consults with physicians as necessary to clarify medication orders
• Instructs patients on proper use of their medications
• Prepares and dispenses drugs and pharmaceutical preparations
• Fills prescriptions
• Assists in ward inspections
• Checks the work of Pharmacy Technician as required
• Updates reference books, treatment authorization requests and non-formulary drug lists
• Bills medication administration records
• Assists with chart reviews and audits
• Coordinates medication borrowing procedures from other hospitals on weekends and holidays
• Notifies appropriate persons when stock levels become low
• Completes daily I.V. Rounds, checks patient profiles, keeps/updates I.V. Admixture patient profile records and compounds, chemotherapy I.V.'s
• Keeps records of drugs, poisons and narcotics as required by federal and state law
• Accompanies physicians on medical and surgical rounds as time permits
• Maintains and keeps in clean and orderly condition the drug and chemical supplies of the Pharmacy
