Job summary

Eurofins USA PSS Insourcing Solutions in Groton, CT, seeks an Associate Scientist to support laboratory efforts in synthesizing salt forms and polymorphs of drug candidates. The role focuses on solid form characterization and particle characterization, aiding in selection for clinical studies.

The candidate will perform solid state characterization (X-ray powder diffraction, DSC, TGA, spectroscopy) and collaborate across Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation, and Biopharmaceutics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or MS in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
• Strong experience in solid state characterization techniques.
• Experience with X-ray powder diffraction, polarized light microscopy, DSC, TGA, spectroscopy.
• Good data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct solid state characterization of small molecules of pharmaceutical relevance.
• Support project teams to define crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co-crystal screening activities.
• Support API particle characterization activities according to project timelines.
• Characterize powders for particle size, shape and surface properties.
• Collaborate with Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation and Biopharmaceutics to align screening strategies with solid form selection for clinical studies.
• Solve Materials Science problems using contemporary experimental techniques.
• Contribute to development of new scientific approaches within Materials Science.
• Maintain contemporaneous, accurate entries in the electronic lab notebook per good practice.
