Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Elkton, VA seeks a Director, IPT Leader, Pharm Ops to shape the future operating model for small molecule manufacturing, lead site readiness, and drive ramp-up with cross-functional teams.

You will build organizational structure, governance, and performance standards; oversee safe, compliant operations and continuous improvement, and partner with Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain to deliver high-quality medicines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science/engineering field relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech regulated manufacturing environments.
• Leadership experience across Manufacturing, Technical Ops, Quality Ops, Engineering, or Production Planning.
• Experience leading teams with direct and indirect reports.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP, regulatory readiness, and safety/environmental practices.
• Experience applying Lean Six Sigma and structured problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Site Leadership Team and align IPT priorities with site/company strategy.
• Develop the future-state operating model for Pharm Ops Elkton, VA.
• Oversee ramp-up, site readiness, and cross-functional project leadership.
• Promote safe, compliant, reliable, and right-first-time operations.
• Drive performance metrics, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
• Manage budget planning and financial stewardship in the IPT.
