  • Create and/or participate in community outreach initiatives, such as immunization clinics, health fairs, etc.
  • Draw blood for lab tests.
  • Participate in the screening, identification and treatment of sexually transmitted disease in walk in patients.
  • Administer vaccines, flu shots, and other injectable medications.

Under broad supervision, performs advanced nursing functions and healthcare services in specialized areas. Operates under a written nurse protocol agreement with their delegating physician, conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels clients. May prescribe medication in some cases.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols,
  • Provide triage services to patients seeking HIV medical care in a clinic setting,
  • Perform patient assessments, provides treatment, education and necessary referrals as needed,
  • Provide medical case management services to a defined caseload of patients,
  • Creates and/or participates in community outreach initiatives, such as immunization clinics, health fairs, etc.,
  • Draws blood for lab tests,
  • Participates in the screening, identification and treatment of sexually transmitted disease in walk in patients,
  • Administers vaccines, flu shots, and other injectable medications.

Additional Information: The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30‑minute break.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with HIV/AIDS medical care,
  • Experience working with Ryan White clinics/patients,
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks EHR systems,
  • Bi‑lingual in English and Spanish
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or two (2) years of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 2 (HCP191) or position equivalent.
