We’re looking for a resource scheduler for our Hybrid position. There are two openings for this Hybrid position, with one position located in Carolinas East and the other in Carolinas West. The candidate selected for the position must reside within the applicable Duke Energy jurisdiction and within a reasonable commute of their designated Duke Energy facility. The exact location will be determined at the time of offer based on business needs.

This position reports to the Leader of PGO Resource Management and is responsible for the scheduling, coordinating, and effective utilization of construction resources within their assigned area, including company and contract crews, materials, and special equipment.

Responsibilities
  • This position schedules approximately $500 million (Carolinas), $120 million (Florida) and $146 million (Midwest) annual capital construction and maintenance work plans and construction planning labor resource plans.
  • In addition, he/she continually adjusts these plans to align with budget requirements, while completing the highest priority work.
  • This position is accountable for optimally scheduling 2,190 craft workers in the Carolinas, 780 craft in Florida and 1,210 in the Midwest within a 4-week window.
  • Schedule an optimized two-week block of work to stakeholders and reschedule (if applicable) based on least cost, resource match/availability and customer need.
  • Develop and maintain a full 4-week schedule for the available man hours.
  • Owns/implements the schedule working with the Resource Specialist and Contractor Specialist to ensure optimal use of internal and external craft resources within the 2-4-week scheduling window.
  • Manage and adjust dependencies with stakeholders to ensure the most efficient use of construction resources.
  • Evaluate and manage unscheduled work by collaborating with Zone and contract partners to identify and document all reschedule reasons.
  • Provide data to Operations Analyst for tracking, trending reschedule reasons.
  • Maintain strong, positive relationships with Zone employees, Engineering and Operations Planning, and Contractor Management to provide feedback for solution development to area resource team.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities in assigned area.
  • Forecasting job status and monitoring, work completion and exception reporting.
  • Coordinates with other work centers and other schedulers to levelized work across the region and to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment by contributing to a positive work environment where fellow employees work safely and efficiently.
  • Adopt and model the safety guiding principles.

Emergency Response Travel is required to support operational needs and emergency response efforts across regions and the Duke Energy footprint. Incumbents must be fit for duty and able to safely perform all required job responsibilities, including participation in emergency response activities across the Duke Energy service territory or with other utility companies during mutual assistance events. Incumbents must also be capable of safely operating a vehicle in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions
  • Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility.
