Job summary

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension seeks an accomplished scientist and collaborative leader to establish and grow the PFAS analytical and Extension program, building a state-of-the-art laboratory and working with producers, researchers, and policymakers to address Maine's PFAS challenges.

The successful candidate will translate environmental science into practical solutions that strengthen Maine's agricultural and food systems, combining scientific excellence with public engagement

Qualifications

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, Soil Science, Environmental Science or closely related field by date of hire.
• Approximately 5 years of PFAS analysis or related work.
• Experience with LC-MS/MS analysis, data interpretation, troubleshooting, instrument maintenance, and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

• Establish and grow the PFAS analytical and Extension program.
• Direct a state-of-the-art analytical laboratory.
• Translate environmental science into practical solutions for farmers and policymakers.
• Engage with agricultural producers, researchers, and stakeholders to address PFAS challenges.
