Job Summary
PetSmart's PetsHotel Experience Lead (Hotel Supervisor) provides exceptional service to pet parents and the pets in our care while upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role provides a welcoming and safe environment to pets, ensuring proper healthcare and facility cleanliness. Alongside the PetsHotel Experience Leader, they are responsible for maintenance and oversight of the PetsHotel, opening and/or closing the store, overseeing associates, and maintaining a safe and organized environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following and may vary depending on store characteristics and needs:
People Leadership:
- Facilitates the associate experience and supports associate development. This includes training, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, and providing feedback for performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and promotions.
- Delegate and validate completion of daily tasks.
- Leads and directs associates when acting as the leader on duty.
- Address and administer associate complaints and grievances.
- Recognizes and celebrates associates to drive engagement.
Hotel Operations and Store Experience:
- Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes, responding to concerns via phone, in person, or online.
- Ensure pet healthcare and facility cleanliness (medication, feeding, watering, etc.).
- Administer pet medications as provided by pet parents or vets.
- Report sick or injured pets and coordinate vet visits.
- Complete check-in and check-out processes accurately, including medical paperwork.
- Manage reservations for pet boarding and doggie day camp, adhering to policies.
- Responsible for monthly hotel safety reporting and daily safety walks.
- Participate in store opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain store cleanliness and coordinate hotel events and promotions.
- Sell merchandise and services.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, fostering a culture of empowerment.
- Maintain a safe environment for staff, pets, and pet parents.
- Support safety incident follow-up.
- Perform routine maintenance on PetsHotel equipment and coordinate repairs.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Full-time availability, flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Supervisory Responsibility
- No direct reports but supports and guides other associates’ development.
- Provides performance feedback to supervisor.
- Acts as leader in the absence of other leaders, supervising associates and assigning tasks.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Stand, walk, climb, and use hands frequently; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear.
- Lift up to 50 pounds frequently; team lift more than 100 pounds occasionally.
- Exposure to moving parts, pet hair, moderate noise, live animals, and occasional high noise levels.
