Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Petroleum Inspector in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with travel between Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale. The role performs measurements, sampling, calculations, and reporting to ensure accurate quantity and quality assessments for materials in downstream oil & gas.

On-call nights, weekends, and holidays are required as part of the schedule. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, strong math and attention to detail, ability to read measurements, and a valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No previous petroleum inspection experience required; training provided.
• Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read measurements, follow procedures, and complete documentation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TWIC card.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Flexible on-call schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
• Ability to travel and drive between terminals, ports, vessels, laboratories, and other locations.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 45 pounds.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders; perform physically demanding work outdoors.
• Work safely around petroleum products with PPE.

Responsibilities

• Conduct volume measurements and sampling of materials in accordance with procedures.
• Perform calculations related to quantity and quality assessments.
• Document findings accurately and comprehensively; keep records up-to-date.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports on inspection results, noting discrepancies.
• Collaborate with team members and clients to address concerns and clarify findings.
• Maintain understanding of industry standards and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Utilize tools and equipment for measurements and sampling; ensure calibration.
• Participate in training programs to enhance inspection skills and knowledge.
• Support the team in achieving goals while promoting safety and quality.
