Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Training Instructor engages with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences and upholding our company’s vision, mission, and values. Responsibilities include educating pet parents on the benefits of pet training, delivering training services per our curriculum, and actively seeking out opportunities to promote our training programs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Enhance pet parent experience and outcomes through various communication channels.
• Sell training classes in-store, over the phone, and online.
• Educate pet parents about the benefits of our pet training curriculum.
• Maintain all paperwork related to pet training.
• Act as a subject matter expert and educate fellow associates on pet training benefits.
• Schedule training classes as per company expectations.
• Create a safe environment for people and pets during classes.
• Keep training areas clean and presentable.
• Recognize associates’ contributions to pet training sales.
• Respond promptly to sick or injured pets, including transport to the vet.
• Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise and services.
• Assist in other departments as needed.
• Participate in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of retail experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Certification in PetSmart Training Instructor Course.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and handle objects. Reach with hands and arms. Stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Vision abilities include depth perception. Reasonable accommodations available.
• Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds; occasionally more than 100 pounds with team assistance.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, and moderate noise levels. Handling live animals is common.
