Job summary

Petco is hiring a Pet Stylist to provide expert grooming for dogs, including bathing, drying, brushing, and haircuts. You will maintain a safe and sanitary grooming area and deliver excellent customer service to pet parents.

The role requires knowledge of breed standards, ability to handle pets of various sizes, and weekend/evening availability. Training and career growth opportunities are available within the grooming salon.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or previous experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program
• High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not required
• Latitude for independent judgement and problem solving in grooming situations with guidance as needed
• Strong attention to detail and passion for animals

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments (clippers, blades, shears, brushes, dryers)
• Prioritize safety and well-being of pets and provide high-quality customer service to pet parents
• Maintain a clean, sanitary grooming area and comply with hygiene policies
• May train/supervise entry-level trainees in the absence of a Grooming Salon Leader

Education

Pet Stylist Apprentice program or grooming training

High-school diploma or GED preferred
