Job summary

Petco is seeking a professional Pet Stylist to provide expert grooming services for dogs and cats in our Granger, IN grooming salon. You’ll bathe, dry, cut and style, while prioritizing pet comfort and safety.

This role requires weekend/evening availability. You’ll train and supervise trainees when needed, use a range of tools, and follow Petco hygiene standards. A Pet Stylist Apprentice program completion or prior grooming experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco or prior grooming experience.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment with guidance as needed.
• Results-driven with commitment to productivity and ownership.
• Strong attention to detail to meet grooming standards.
• Genuine passion for animals and grooming career.
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds and grooming requirements.
• Proficiency in breed-specific cuts and techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication with pet parents and team.
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes with care.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services (bathing, drying, brushing, cuts) per pet parent instructions.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments (clippers, blades, shears, brushes, dryers).
• Prioritize safety and welfare of animals and communicate concerns to owners and management.
• Assess coat type and skin conditions to tailor grooming approach.
• Provide customer service, grooming recommendations, and resolve questions.
• Educate on maintenance and at-home care to promote pet well-being.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized grooming area consistent with policies.
• Follow grooming policies and standards to ensure quality and consistency.
• Train or supervise entry‑level trainees in the absence of a Leader.
