Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or prior grooming experience.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred.
• Independent judgement and problem solving with guidance as needed.
• Results-driven with attention to productivity and ownership.
• Strong attention to detail and passion for animals.
• Excellent knowledge of dog breeds, grooming needs, and behaviors.
• Proficient in breed-specific cuts and grooming standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication with pet parents and team.
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes with care and empathy.
• Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments such as clippers, blades, and dryers.
• Prioritize pet safety, monitor for discomfort, and report concerns to owners and management.
• Evaluate coat type and temperament to tailor grooming plans.
• Provide customer service, grooming recommendations, and resolve questions promptly.
• Educate owners on at-home care and maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized grooming area following policies.
• Follow grooming policies to ensure safety and quality across the salon.
• Train or supervise entry-level trainees in the absence of a Grooming Salon Leader.
