Job summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Instructor in the Department of Radiology to advance PET radiotracer research. The role requires independent and collaborative work across organic/medicinal chemistry, radiochemistry, biochemistry, and neuroscience, focusing on pre-clinical evaluation and translation of new tracers.

The position is full-time for 1 year with renewal possible, contingent on grant funding.

Qualifications

PhD in organic or medicinal chemistry with 3+ years post-doctoral experience.
Strong organic synthesis skills with multi-step synthesis demonstrated by publications.
Expertise in analyzing NMR spectroscopy data.
Previous experience with F-18 and C-11 radiolabeling and HPLC purification.
Demonstrated organizational, project management, and written/oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute research projects under the guidance of the PI.
Design, develop, and translate new PET radiotracers including synthesis, characterization, radiolabeling, and evaluation in pre-clinical models.
Analyze data, write progress reports, prepare manuscripts for publication.
Mentor trainees and participate in regular research discussions and academic activities under the PI.
Abide by all laboratory regulations as required by the University of Pittsburgh.
