Job summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Instructor in the Department of Radiology to advance PET radiotracer research. The role requires independent and collaborative work across organic/medicinal chemistry, radiochemistry, biochemistry, and neuroscience, focusing on pre-clinical evaluation and translation of new tracers.

The position is full-time for 1 year with renewal possible, contingent on grant funding.

Qualifications

  • PhD in organic or medicinal chemistry with 3+ years post-doctoral experience.
  • Strong organic synthesis skills with multi-step synthesis demonstrated by publications.
  • Expertise in analyzing NMR spectroscopy data.
  • Previous experience with F-18 and C-11 radiolabeling and HPLC purification.
  • Demonstrated organizational, project management, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute research projects under the guidance of the PI.
  • Design, develop, and translate new PET radiotracers including synthesis, characterization, radiolabeling, and evaluation in pre-clinical models.
  • Analyze data, write progress reports, prepare manuscripts for publication.
  • Mentor trainees and participate in regular research discussions and academic activities under the PI.
  • Abide by all laboratory regulations as required by the University of Pittsburgh.
