Job Details
Under the direction of a radiologist, the PET/Nuc Med Technologist performs Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT procedures in accordance with approved protocols and NRC/PA DEP standards. Responsible for the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, and the operation of all nuclear medicine and PET imaging equipment.
Job Description
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including routine nuclear medicine studies, nuclear cardiology, PET/CT oncology, neurology, and cardiology procedures.
Operates nuclear medicine and PET/CT equipment using proper techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality images.
Prepares, measures, administers, and records radioactive materials according to departmental policies and NRC and state regulations.
Demonstrates competency in IV placement and securement, and extravasation handling.
Conducts quality control testing on all nuclear medicine equipment, evaluates performance according to manufacturer guidelines, and calls service when needed.
Documents receipt, storage, administration, and disposal of all radioactive materials in the computer information system. Stores and maintains materials according to radiation safety guidelines, and disposes of materials after decay to environmentally safe levels.
Utilizes effective radiation safety practices to minimize radiation exposure to patients and personnel.
Maintains patient care quality standards for all age groups, from newborns to the elderly.
Maintains technical competency through continued education required for certifications and licenses.
Performs other duties as assigned.
